Some individuals think that schools ought to place greater emphasis on equiping students with practical competencies that learners will need in adult life, whereas others believe that scholarly disciplines are more important.
Firstly, life skills educate adolescents about safety against bullying and violence. This is because, the level of crime is rising and children should be able to protect themselves. For instance, if educators teach students about defending themselves, they will be able to use these skills in the future. As a result, self-defence of minors will be more efficient. A further point is that young people can be more responsible for financial management, communication, time management and so forth. It is essential in everyday life because these abilities have a positive impact on society. For example, financial management lets youngsters to manage finances effectively and help to not spend money for unhelpful things. Consequently, young generation mitigates unnecessary spending and make wise spending decisions.
On the other hand, academic subjects also play crucial roles in child’s life. Students can learn subjects which in their interest instead of that they hate. Because, some adolescents do not want to learn fewer interesting disciplines. For instance, they could use math as their crucial skill and stop educating physics, because they do not have an interest to learn it. This leads to increasing passion for studying specific areas.
Taking everything into consideration, because of life skills arguments overweigh academic abilities, I believe that practical competencies are more beneficial than academic skills and more required in daily life.
