It is considered by some that if all the kids learn together, regardless of their intelligence, then it would be beneficial to all the students, whereas many people support the idea that children should be segregated on the basis of their intelligence and intelligent students should be treated in a better way. In my opinion, it depends on the age of the learner.
On one hand, if all the students sit together and learn then in that way we would raise better adults who are less judgemental towards other people In other words, if we do not separate the kids on the basis of their IQ then the intelligent ones would understand that the there are some people in the world who are just not as sharp as they are. By doing so, they would be ready to face these types of people in the real world and would judge them less and just knowing that this is the reality that they need to face and survive in, would give them mental peace. Also, if we mix all the kids then the kids with better aptitude would know how to work someone who is mentally not on the same level as them and this would make them more patient and sympathetic towards their classmates.
On the other hand, if we take the intelligent kids out from the young age and teach them separately then it would save everybody’s time and efforts. That is to say, if teachers and other staff members know that they are dealing with the intelligent ones or the dumb ones then they can alter the way they explain concepts. Professors would know that if they are dealing with the intelligent ones then they hardly need to explain something twice, whereas, when dealing with the other ones, they would know that they need to increase their efforts, so teachers would also be prepared mentally before their session. Lastly, from the young age, intelligent students would know the level of competition they are going to face as late teenagers, when they are preparing for competitive exams, so they would start preparing themself early in their lives.
Final, in my opinion, if we are dealing with teenagers then I believe division is compulsory, but I don’t think it is necessary when dealing with the kids. To explain further, if a student is an adolescent, then they already know what their mental capacity is and whether they are willing to put efforts in order to improve it or not. So, there should be three sections, those who are intelligent, those who are not and those who are willing to improv themselves. By doing so, we are telling the kids the reality of the situation. In other words, we are telling the students what their future holds for them, whether they would get admissions in grade ‘a’ colleges or not. Contrastingly, if they are not teenagers then segregation should not happen because at that point, our brains are still growing and we still have chance to improve ourself, so if we separate the kids then we are telling the less intelligent ones that they would not be able to achieve anything in their life, which could be demotivating.
To conclude, as discussed above, segregation of kids on the basis of intelligence has its own advantages and disadvantages, but I think, we should give multiple chances to kids to change the course of their lives and should not just give up on them.
