Allowing people to museums at no cost is advantageous in a number of ways. Firstly, people visiting museums will gain plenty of knowledge about the place and history, which will give them enlightenment and a sense of pride. Secondly, history students will not only find it convenient to study but will also encourage them to find employment in the same field. Moreover, making museums entry free will ensure a rise in tourism as well as leave a positive impact on an individual visiting the town for the very first time. Thus, waiving off the entry fee in the museums may fetch several opportunities.
However, charging a nominal fee for entry to museums has a plethora of merits. Firstly, funds collected by selling tickets can be used to compensate for the various expenses like maintenance, cleaning, staff salaries and so on. Secondly, this approach can help government not only upgrade the facilities inside the museums, but can also develop the areas around the museums, like the garden and playing area. Thus, doing so will generate lucrative employment opportunities for the local people.
To sum up, I am in favour of imposing a small amount of money for access to museum premises to ensure the discipline and smooth functioning of a substantial public place.
