Today, there is a debate among people about on whether governments should dedicate money to ancient buildings or artifacts. Some individuals believe that old building deserve more money than new ones, while others think it would be more beneficial to spend money on building new houses and accommodations.
One of the prime reasons for preserving and improving old buildings is their cultural and historical value. More specifically, most countries history is related to the location where they are located in. As a result, the old buildings naturally start to represent not only their history but also their culture, as a history and culture always goes hand by hand. In addition, spending money on reconstruction of the old building presents the value of countries history and culture to their nation. Therefore, most goverments tend to spend considerably amount of money on preserving old facilities, in order to show their historically status and respect to their culture.
Secondly, economic advantages from ancient monuments are can be another reasen to their preserving. Most countries, such as Uzbekistan, maintain the economic balance thanks to the funding that is earned from historical sites. Because, wide range of historical and cultural areas attract a lot of visitors from different countries. As visitors tend to discover more about different cultures, in order to do it they have to spend some amount of money while their journey. At the end of the day, in this case, spending money on old building actually benefits to goverments itself.
On the other hand, new houses and apartments also play a vital role in our society as they have a direct impact to our life conditions. In other words, how much our life is comfortable based on the opportunities that new houses allow. Especially, today there a lot of problems that relate to condition of houses, such as electricity or internet connections in countrisides. Instead of tending to preserve old building, it would be more logical if goverment invests more money on building new ones. Because, residents’ problems are more important than the old buildings, as residents are the ones who gives the value to historical facilites. If the today’s problems continuous to become unsolved, ancient items such as monuments would lost their purpose.
In conclusion, even if advantages from preserving old building overweight the building new houses, I think, goverments should focus more on the reconstruction of new living areas as our social and daily life is affected by them while historical monuments does not have any directly impact to us.
