Band 6+: Some people believe government should spend money on preserving historic buildings, while others think this money should be used to build new houses and infrastructure. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

The increase in globaliztion has resulted in diversification of opinions that the people share. As a result some individuals think that the cost involve in maintaining historical infrastructure could be efficiently used for other purposes while others think that preserving them is essential. According to my perception, both categories of thoughts hold equal importance and a balance should be found between them, such that, the preservation of historical values and a better future for the people can be worked out.

To begin with, history holds great lessons and importance for some people because either they themselves or their forefathers have been a part of a great moment, struggle or sacrifice. Such people hold on to those memories and lessons that they have learnt as a result of those struggles and sacrifices, and they have great respect for that history. For example, world war heros who put their lives on the line would surely want that the history should remember and respect their sacrifices they made for the land. Consequently, they want those places to be preserved in order for it to be a lesson for the new generations and as a form of respect for those who sacrificed for the cause.

On the other hand, some individuals, although having great respect for the struggles and sacrifices made by the people thinks that this cost of maintianing those places could be used for other better purposes. For example, instead of spending a whole sum of money on a historical site, it should be used to improve roads, provide better health facilties, made new infrastructure resistant to natural disaters and other such things which will result in the betterment of daily lives of the new generation.

In my opinion, both the opinion holds a positive impact on the society. As the preservation of historical sites would result in many great lessons for the new generations to learn but a better future and improved daily lives holds as much importance. Hence the government should find a balance between these cause and direct their budget towards both in an efficient manner.

In conclusion, maintaining historical sites combined with improving basic needs of the new generation holds equal importance. As a result both opinions should be considered and relevant measures should be taken towards both the causes.
