Toddlers, naive observers, always have curiosity toward everything that they see and hear at each step of their lives. A number of people believe that elders need to allow young ones to make mistakes; only then can they learn from their mistakes. However, others believe that it is the responsibility of adults to protect toddlers from making mistakes. This essay discusses both points of view and comes to a conclusion.
On the one hand, older people need to give children space to get into trouble, which helps them to understand not only the competitive world but also how to tackle obstacles. In addition, it helps to create problem-solving skills in children. For example, when children do indoor and outdoor activities, such as puzzle solving and outdoor games, if a problem arises during these games, then they are able to resolve the dilemma by generating a solution. Therefore, children gain confidence in facing problems.
On the other hand, adults have to protect children from making mistakes. Even though children gain the capability to resolve their issues by themselves, it is older people’s responsibility to protect their children from getting into trouble. If toddlers get into trouble, then it brings anxiety to them. Moreover, that may lead to trauma. For instance, some adults have trauma or even guilt regarding some dilemmas that they experienced in their childhood. Hence, it is considered the responsibility of caretakers or parents to protect their children from mistakes.
Having an in-depth analysis of this matter, it can be concluded that children need a helping hand from elders, even though they are able to handle their problems by themselves.
