Band 8+: Some people believe that advertising encourages people to buy things they do not need. Others say that advertisements help people make better choices. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Advertising plays an important role in marketing. Some people think that the main goal of advertising is to persuade people to buy things they do not need, while others believe it helps people make better choices. This essay will discuss both views and explain why I believe advertising can help us make more informed decisions.

Some people believe that advertising promotes products and services that are not really necessary. People are often influenced to buy items simply because they are associated with power, success, or glamour. For example, children are easily affected by commercials and frequently pressure their parents to buy certain products. This behavior can sometimes lead to financial stress for families.

On the other hand, others argue that advertising helps consumers make better decisions. It allows companies to present their products clearly and can save people time when shopping. For example, if someone is busy and does not have time to compare many products, advertising can provide useful information about features, prices, and quality, making shopping more efficient.

I believe advertising is useful when people use it wisely. It can save time and inform consumers about the best options. For example, I often learn about discounts and useful features of products through ads, which helps me make better choices.

In conclusion, while some believe advertising encourages people to make unnecessary purchases, others see it as a helpful tool for making informed decisions. I believe that advertising can be beneficial if consumers approach it critically and make thoughtful choices.
