It is well known that some people consider having a pet as a mandatory aspect for children’s personal development. However, there are families that believe totally the opposite as looking after an animal is a huge responsibility. This essay will discuss both points of view and argue in favor of the latter.
On the one hand, people may believe that having a pet is essential for a youngster’s growth. This can be considered because being related to an animal in the earliest ages impacts positively on the relationship skills. For instance, having cats or dogs as part of the family creates empathetic, lovely and reliable interactions which can be seen in both primary schools and high schools children’s performances. Nonetheless, there are more aspects that should be taken into account when it comes to pet’s ownership.
On the other hand, some families might follow the statement that pet’s possession and infant’s development are not related as it is a massive commitment with a being. As a matter of fact, families state that no matter the species, children do not understand the financial investment, quality time for training a dog or cat, emergency insurance that comes with having a healthy pet. Moreover, these aspects will be a constant as long as the pet lives; therefore, the responsibility is immense. I strongly believe it is unreasonable management for a youngster.
In conclusion, although families consider having a pet is beneficial for children’s communication skills, there are some people against this idea as looking after a pet is not something that children could manage. I agree with this position because infants have not developed enough self-consciousness nor decision making awareness; thus, they can not be in charge of anything.
