People believe that at an early stage is that the good time for young learners to acquire new language instead of secondary school. I totally agree with that statement for the two reasons mentioned below.
Firstly, learning a new language can develop the brain. When starting to learn a difficult skill to like a language, child’s brain can improve concentration and memory to remember words, structures and grammar. For example, according to many sources, learning a foreign language puberty helps improve memory skill, so children can pass tests easily. Moreover, this also helps children have good imagination because it requires a different way of thinking and expressing ideas. For example, some words are difficult to understand, so it motivates the imagination to understand the meaning of the word.
Secondly, it helps children learn more skills and abilities. Communicating in a now language requires you to step out of your safe zone to practice and this practice helps improve confidence. For instance, practicing speaking in front of a crowd or with native speakers can help you feel more confident when giving presentations. Furthermore, exposure to another language opens a window into new culture, children become more understanding about different cultures and lifestyles, so they can adapt to it when traveling to new countries. For instance, travelers who learn the local language often find it easier to adapt to new environments and cultures.
In conclusion, it cannot be denied that the mentioned benefit of language acquisition at an early age will result in greater value for learners than for adolescents.
