In today’s interconnected world, the question of whether reliable transportation or good technology is the ultimate factor of success has sparked considerable debate in recent years. Although some people assert that cheap and fast transportation facilities allow international business partners to meet face-to-face, I contend that innovative technologies in the 2020s are more profound, primarily because of the online meeting opportunities and digitalized financial tracking.
On the one hand, proponents of transportation argue that one-on-one interaction is vastly more significant than any other alternative. This is often justified because accessible transportation fosters more communication between multiple companies. Hence, different disparities could be found to have merit and, in contrast, create new connections. For example, in soccer, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid have had an intense rivalry for a long time both in sports and business. Even though the presidents of clubs hated each other, after their first offline meeting, they solved their problems, including international business.
On the other hand, the primary reason for my contradictory point is that current technological breakthroughs have drastically changed numerous fields, especially international business. One compelling justification comes from the rise of Artificial Intelligence(AI) and large language models such as ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, etc. Granted, these models have no direct impact on the business itself, but their large database allows faster computing. A pertinent example of this is the stock market, where AI can predict upcoming trends. Consequently, international organizations have more opportunities to strengthen relationships by making predictions. Moreover, applications such as Zoom, Google Meet, and others could easily replace face-to-face cohorts.
To conclude, although quick, low-cost vehicles are an integral part of any business organization, the argument for the significance of technologies is ultimately more convincing. Thus, placing greater emphasis on the impact of technologies is likely to yield more sustainable and far-reaching benefits.
