Others think that students must be assigned homework daily since it reinforces what they learn at school. Daily homework provides regular practice, which results in enhanced understanding and retention of what they have learned. Daily homework also aids in developing students’ discipline, time management, and study habits. Proponents argue that persistent homework enhances academic achievements and enables parents to monitor their child’s progress.
Conversely, most individuals hold the opinion that assigning homework every day is not required and can lead to adverse consequences. Excessive homework may result in stress, demotivation towards learning, and loss of time for rest, family, and hobbies. Critics object that students should have time to relax and pursue other interests, which are also vital to their development as individuals. According to them, learning must be purposeful, not a routine activity to be done daily.
In my view, homework must not be assigned daily, but only if it is required and beneficial. It is more acceptable to have a balanced measure where teachers assign homework that is beneficial and not merely for the purpose of keeping students occupied. In this manner, students are able to enjoy learning without being stressed, and they have time for other essential activities in their lives.
