There’s an ongoing debate about whether it’s better to teach children about social life at home or in school. There are various perspectives on this issue, and I will explore them in this essay.
To begin with, it is well known that our future selves and behaviors are shaped during childhood. This is why it’s important to provide children with the best possible upbringing. There is no doubt that parents play a crucial role in every person’s life. As children live under the same roof as adults, they tend to look up to them and mimic what they see and believe is right. This highlights the necessity for parents to set a good example and explain what is right and wrong in the world, as they are ultimately responsible for their children’s upbringing.
At the same time, it’s important to recognize that not only parents, but teachers also play a critical role in education. Nowadays, children spend a significant amount of time at school and other education centers, which means they also look up to their teachers. The social interactions that occur in schools among classmates and adults are significant during a child’s developmental years. Living among peers and learning new concepts can shape aspects of behavior such as respect for elders, concentration, willpower, discipline, and kindness—qualities that are essential for navigating life. As trusted mentors, teachers should impart their knowledge and provide guidance on how to become good human beings.
In conclusion, I would like to share my personal opinion on this topic. I believe that both the home and the school have responsibilities in shaping a child’s future, albeit in different ways. For instance, parents are responsible for nurturing a child’s internal world, teaching them how to love, behave, and perceive things. Conversely, educators focus on preparing children for the outside world, fostering appropriate interests, and teaching them how to socialize.
