Many people argue that money management skills should be taught in schools; however, others think that priority should be given to only academic courses. This essay will discuss both views before outlining the importance of teaching these skills at an early age.
Firstly, when students learn the value of money in their young age, it helps them in their future. As childhood is a growing phase of children, the skills learned during this period will remain throughout their lives. For example, if teachers guide them how to save money, then in the future they will not find it difficult to manage their expenses. Furthermore, it helps the students to know about their parent’s financial conditions. While every family has a different financial situation, a money saving child will never demand unnecessary things. Therefore, building management skills from childhood helps to create a better financially responsible youth.
On the other hand, there are already a number of other factors that are crucial in school life. Since scholarly subjects have a major role in building careers of students, it becomes vital to focus on them. To illustrate, all the entrance exams in India, like JEE , NEET, and UPSC include only the academic knowledge. Moreover, most of the teenager’s physical growth happens in school-going period. Apart from academics, the other goal is to develop them physically stronger through sports. Thus, schools not only have to develop educational skills but also physical growth.
In conclusion, although there are other aspects of education where the institutions have to focus, money management skill is equally important to form economically responsible youth.
