It is thought that less attention should be given to the academic subjects, and more for life-teaching ones . I partially agree with this viewpoint and there are several reasons for this
On the one hand, by concentrating on academic and theoretic subjects, educational institutions are tend to cause lost interest among pupils .Nowadays, in technologically- advanced era, there are still traditional ways of teaching used in schools. Instead of making the lessons more exciting and useful by understanding what is interesting for new generation, and adapting their methodology, teachers are tend to use the ways of teaching that were in their youth. By doing so, they are not only teach students nothing, but also erase no interest to the subject, including the aversion associated with school. After all, there are still some subjects that will not be useful to a person, if it is not his specialization. For instance, if a person wants to be an engineer, the knowledge of France revolution will not help him in the construction of something. Another example might be geometry, if the student goes on medical field, the Pythagorean theorem will not play even minor role in treating people.
On the other hand, introducing life-teaching subjects to schools, will have a positive effect on students’ adulthood. These subjects will be really useful and beneficial to students, as a great number of adults are struggling with the lack of knowledge about monetary policy, digital literacy ,cooking, time management and communication skills. According to statistics, around 66% of world’s population, struggle to achieve financial literacy. Following this, there might be introduced several subjects such as: busines management, communication teaching subjects and so on . Additionally, this kind of subjects help to make school period more enjoyable and memorable. For example, the labor lessons are usually teach cooking and sewing for female students, and how to repair and invent objects for male ones. During this lessons , teenagers can take a break of school routine, learn something new with pleasure and also learn how to be a part of community, as the tasks are usually done in teams.
For conclusion, I partially agree with this statement, but I am of the opinion that all subjects are crucial, especially in enhancing comprehensive development. By leraning a history and other subjects, a person improves his or her intelligence and can support every conversation. However, practical subjects should be added too, so that by combining them, educational institutions will reach a balance.
