Sports are common activities that children could do as a hobby or in leisure time. Considering to encourage competition in schools is an interesting idea for some people. In my point of view, schools should support sports to be more serious to get children ready for real-world contest. However, some students that are not specializing in sports may not be interested in, they would probably prefer academic competition.
It will be a successful decision of upgrading sports class in a school by encouraging competition. Children have more inspiration and passion of playing sports, then they will take it more seriously. Peer pressure is another factor of playing sports in a school, getting motivation from friends will make them do better. Furthermore, it is the beginning of preparing children to handle real-world competition with the least pressure and less stress.
Schools have to look forward to every type of students, they have different interests and passion. For instance, some students who not satisfied by sports might prefer academic contest. It could help them in the future careers, which will be more competitive. Another important type of learning is daily life skills, such as growth mindset, professional presentation, and group working, these skills should also be encouraged in schools.
As far as I am concerned, encouraging competitive sports is a perfect step to develop schools and students. Supporting children who not interested in sport is important too. Academic contests and daily life skills are example of other types of competition. It does not guarantee that students will have better GPA, nonetheless, it will help students to handle the real-world contests.
