Band 7+: Some people believe that computers and the internet will eventually replace teachers in the classroom. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is often argued that digital platforms and contemporary technologies will gradually overshadow human interaction, especially in modern society. I completely disagree with this idea due to their lack of emotional intelligence and the fact they cannot fully replace human labor.

One of the main reasons is that computers cannot encourage or support students through motivational speech or empathy. This can be explained by the fact that students may have emotional challenges or the absence of significant traits such as inspiration, discipline and creativity. To elaborate, a shortage of encouragement may lead to decreased productivity and efficiency. For example, the introduction of digital tools in the classroom frequently causes a reduction in overall activity of students. Therefore, electronic tools result in negative impact on students’ academic capabilities.

Furthermore, while mentors and professionals provide deeper exploration and discussion, information technologies provide raw data. This is mainly because computers cannot replicate human effort, preventing bad behavior or forcing a students to submit their assignments. In addition, mentorship involves not only communication of information but also plays a crucial role in character development. For instance, numerous successful people reached their goals largely because of their tutors. Consequently, digital platforms are unable to surpass human impact.

To sum up, I am inclined to believe that computers cannot totally replace human teachers. They are incapable of imitating emotional support or developing students’ essential skills, which are vital for their success. Ultimately, education should be viewed as a deeply human process that requires a level of personal engagement and guidance that no machine can offer.

With technology, people are accessing information in new ways, and some think this will be the only way public libraries will be available.
