Band 6+: Some people believe that countries should invite foreign companies to open their branches, offices and factories in order to develop their economies. Others think countries should invest in their own companies instead. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

One of the most important purposes of governments is to find ways of boosting the economy year by year. According to the group of people, a stronger economy may be reached by giving more attention to attract foreign corporations, while others claim that consideration should mainly be given to companies of local origin. In my opinion, the best way to get good results in terms of economy is inviting more and more external companies.

On the one hand, it is often believed that it is better to invest in domestic companies. Feeling the support of their own governments may positively affect the motivation of local people to become entrepreneur and this trend would bring new employment opportunities in its own order. Another reason why attention to local companies is important is that there may be some start-ups with fresh brains which have good potential to become one of the best companies in the future, if insured by the government. So it would not only increase the level of economy, but also reputation and recognition of the country all over the world.

On the other hand, I agree with those who think that governments which invest mainly in companies of foreign origin are more successful in terms of having a powerful economy. Because those companies or factories would bring new approaches for business structures with them and also new products which belong to specific industry that does not exist in country so far. For example, by attracting actual manufacturers of pharmaceutical goods which are not exist in Azerbaijan, government would achieve new and stronger competition in the market which would even lead to open local factories. Additionally, having more external companies directly affects the GDP and annual net income of the state by applying them different taxation approach which is higher than the local one, so it boosts the economy.

In conclusion, while people may vary in their opinions, I think that governments have a better chance of having improved economy by encouraging foreign companies to operate in their countries.
