A segment of society believes that knack in handwriting is still relevant to this day, while others argue that it is not necessary to enhance writing skills in today’s world. This essay will discuss both views. However, in my opinion, despite a few cons there is no need to develop writing skills.
On the one hand, the advancements in technology have changed our lifestyle. Most of the schools and universities have shifted towards digital examinations. Moreover, assignments and presentations are conducted on computers, which requires typing skills rather the handwriting ones. For instance, in Pakistan, IELTS was conducted on paper but now they have changed their method of taking the test. They have shifted to computer-based format, which means that an individual must have good typing skills to ace the exam , omitting the need of handwritten skills.
On the contrary, having a good command in handwriting is still essential for some individuals. To cite an example, developing motor skills in children is helpful by teaching them how to write. Moreover, in many underdeveloped countries day to day task is mostly done by writing. For example, in Pakistan, banks still use old method of transactions that involve handwriting.
To conclude, technological advancements have reduced the need of writing ,still in most societies knowing how to write is important for the survival of ones sake.
