Some people believe that the most effective way to prevent world poverty and hunger is to increase the economic level, while others claim that this might not be the optimal solution, considering that it can destroy the environment. Nonetheless, the economic growth of countries, particularly those facing socioeconomic challenges, may be the most successful way to improve the quality of life.
It is undeniable that nowadays many governments, especially those relying heavily on fossil fuels, usually must sacrifice nature for industrial and economic development. Unfortunately, most cars, buses, and even factories still run on petrol or coal, which releases an enormous amount of carbon emissions and greenhouse gases, that leads to global warming and rising sea levels. Moreover, industrial production and resource extraction leads to deforestation, loss of biodiversity, and pollution. These ecological problems can damage agricultural land, cause climate changes, and deplete resources. Therefore, these economic processes may aggravate world poverty and hunger.
However, economic growth holds significant value in rising social well-being, especially for poor countries, while it creates more job opportunities, increases incomes of population, and generates wealth, that can be used to improve the quality of life. In addition, with the huge amount of resources governments can invest in healthcare, education, and infrastructure, which is essential for prevention of poverty and hunger. For instance, oil production accelerated economic increase of the United Arab Emirates, which provided a positive impact on country’s social life. Due to the large revenues from oil exports, the transport network, workplaces, and infrastructure were significantly improved. Thuse, economic growth plays a vital role in ensuring decent standards of living for the population.
In conclusion, despite the fact that economic growth has some disadvantages, I believe that it is the most effective way to end world poverty and hunger, providing a lot of opportunities for a decent life. However, the safety of nature is equally important because it provides people with essential resources. Therefore, the best way is to find a balance between economic processes and environmental protection.
