Nowadays, males and females have equal opportunities in most countries. The question of whether sexual equality has been accomplished in many regions around the world or whether considerable gender discrepancies yet prevail has recently been fiercely debated. Even though I agree with the former viewpoint, this essay will discuss both perspectives and elaborate on them.
To begin with, women’s rights are commensurate with that of men’s as they have equal career opportunities in a majority of developed countries. Unlike in the past, both genders now can have identical qualifications as long as they comply with the requirements of the position in a company, proving that gender does not matter anymore. For example, in the U.S. and Canada, men and women work in the same jobs in franchises like McDonald’s or corporations such as Microsoft. Additionally, women are now able to make decisions, which was a prerogative of men only back then. Wherever the females can go, or whatever they resolve to do is up to them in the contemporary world. However, gender balance has yet to be implemented in a preponderance of Middle Eastern countries.
Due to the prevalence of stringent religious beliefs in these countries, women are compelled to wear religious attire, which might damage their mental health and confidence. They must conform to this dress code there, unless they want to face legal castigation. For instance, discontent and despair are evident in their emotions owing to the impossibility of experiencing the full joy of life. Furthermore, in these societies, that a woman’s sole task is to nurture children and stay at home is strongly believed. It is widely assumed that being a breadwinner of the family exclusively pertains to men. As an example, women are often discouraged from pursuing education and career, which confirms the aforementioned fact.
To conclude, although gender equity prevails in most countries, some highly populated nations still adhere to conservative norms. Therefore, humanity should do its best to curate the best practices for gender equality across the globe.
