While some people may argue that building more roads can be of benefit to resolve traffic congestion and business of roads, I hold the opposing opinion and encourage people to use public transportation more to handle this issue.
On the one hand, majority of people might believe that building more roads can help in reduction of traffic. For example, by taking the paths on the countryside into use, new routes for drivers will be available. Moreover, the traffic caused by the influx of cars that move throughout the city every morning, could be channeled to tunnels and highways which are located outside the local areas rather than inside. By doing so, a substantial decrease in the rate of traffic can be expected.
On the other hand, in my point of view, encouraging people to use public transportation is much more feasible. To take for an example, by using buses and trams available throughout the cities, most of the cars which contain only 1 passenger will be eradicated which can result in less pollution; furthermore, this can reduce the cost of living by not having to pay for fuel dramatically. Despite the expenses that increasing the number of vehicles might bring upon, this approach more economical than building more roads.
To sum up, in my point of view, given the more effectiveness in terms of carbon emission and expenses management, extended usage of public transportation can be much more beneficial compared to addition of the roads and highways.
