There is an ongoing debate whether governments ought to offer the free shelters and basic needs like water and electricity for people. With others saying it can improve public’s education and well-being, some argue it would be financial burden on the government and individuals may misuse given resources. In my opinion, home and medicine care must be available for everyone.
Admittedly, people can say that citizens should be obligated to cover their tuition and healthcare fees. So, if government provides all the shelter, water, and electricity resources for each individual, the authority may face financial deficit, leading to increased higher taxes. Thus, the citizens with low salary could struggle to make ends meet that limits the live satisfaction, despite on free houses and basic needs. Additionally, the idea of free housing and medicine care often leads to consumerism, leaving the houses in awful conditions by exploiting the energy and water resources that are the main causes for wasted materials in many countries.
Despite these arguments, I remain convinced that governments are still in charge of funding the necessary healthcare and home for residents. As for the former, the government heavily relies on the literacy rates of students, and they should simulate the domestic growth, these need to receive proper education. If government offer the available housing and basic resources, the students would not concern about it, focusing fully on their studies. Moreover, people should acknowledge the fact that not all people can afford the expensive treatments or surgeries against chronic diseases. In these situations, the assistance from government is the source of hope for desperate individual.
In conclusion, some people think that the government should provide available homes and fundamental needs for citizens, while others say that people should cover their own needs by themselves. I admit the fact that offering basic needs and shelters for living is government’s duty.
