The use of mobile phones in public places is a controversial topic with valid arguments on both sides. While some people think that using a cellphone could disturb individuals in open areas, others argue that we can communicate on our phones from anywhere at any time. This essay will discuss both positions and I will conclude with my personal opinion.
On the one hand, some argue that phone usage to convers in public spaces can be impolite and disturbing. Talking loudly might bother and distract other people, especially in quiet settings like libraries or museums. Additionally, using an electronic device while driving or walking can be dangerous and increase the risk of accidents. For instance, there are considerable accidents on the road in Thailand when drivers are texting or talking on smartphone and losing their focus from driving.
On the other hand, many people believe that conversing on the phone should be allowed, as long as it is not causing a direct disturbance. Mobile phones are essential tools for communication and should not be restricted. For example, when human resource officer call to confirm the job offers for you, it is necessary to receive the call immediately. The majority of people may feel that they have personal rights to use their phones whenever they have a need. Furthermore, government should allocate free spaces for people who need to use their phone in open spaces.
To sum up, in my opinion, although it is important to recognize the value of mobile phones in our lives, it is also crucial to respect others’ peace and quiet.
