In recent years, there has been a debatable issue about whether people need historical knowledge to understand the present while others think that history has little to tell us. In my opinion, knowledge of history is crucial for two primary reasons.

The first reason why learning history is necessary is that studying history helps us understand humanity’s victories in the past, fostering respect and appreciation. This contributes to a more civilized and advanced society where everyone values such achievements. From that, people will develop patriotism and motivation.

The second reason is that when having knowledge about history, people can acquire invaluable life lessons. We can learn from past mistakes and take actions to avoid repeating them in the future. By learning and adapting, we will develop new approaches and achieve greater success. For example, after the COVID-19 pandemic, countries improved their healthcare systems and measures to be better prepared for future outbreaks.

In conclusion, historical knowledge plays a vital role in shaping a better future by helping us understand the past and learn from it. Therefore, we should value history and use its lessons to create a more enlightened society.
