In a competitive job market, it is essentially important to understand which company really benefits you as an employee. Nowadays, some individuals believe that it is better to work consistently for an employer than changing your jobs. I think it is better to change jobs when an individual wants to switch their employer to gain valuable experience.
If an individual works for the same company his entire life, he might stand a higher chance of getting promoted. He is aware of his employees and his surroundings and hence, can perform better. Working for the same company becomes a routine and few people perform better that way. Furthermore, The company can be his comfort zone and he might not be able to perform when he decides to change his job. For example, this will help an individual gain expertise in one topic and he might become a master in it. As they say ” Jack of all trades, master of none”, if you work for one company it might bring you high expertise in one topic.
However, changing employers comes with its benefits. You tend to get a drastic exposure and people can thrive in a changed environment. With changed employers comes new valuable experiences. It can become a routine and people might start to dislike it. Change is necessary in life and at workplace as well. You can potentially gain an exposure which you might not have in your previous company. For instance the natural human tendency is to stay in his comfort zone. An individual working for the same company might have expertise in only one sector but not the rest because he never received that experience. A slight change can help you flourish in your career.
In conclusion, working for the same company would make you an expert in one topic while working for different companies would help you gain insightful experiences. In my opinion, I think changing jobs while gaining valuable experiences is a better way. You can flourish and grow in new environments. You will meet people from different cultural background and this will gradually lead to growth. Hence, I feel changing employers can lead to better outcome.
