Ensuring a healthy lifestyle has been a topic of debate among individuals and governments, with some arguing that it is the duty of each person to take care of their own healthy diet, but others consider that governments should encourage their citizens to have a healthy diet. In my opinion, individuals themselves should be responsible for adopting healthy eating habits.
To begin with, personal choices play a significant role in determining one’s health and diet. These days, an increasing number of people are educating themselves to rely on their healthy diet because thanks to rapid technological advancements, they can easily reach “How to stay healthy” programmes online and they have the opportunity to follow many useful nutritionists. Furthermore, many people are conscious about what they must eat or not. For example, individuals who prioritize exercising and consuming nutritional foods are more likely to prevent chronic diseases such as obesity and diabetes.
On the other hand, governments have a major role in making a healthy environment through easy access to healthy food supplies and encouraging citizens to do sports and participate in them. For instance, governments should take steps to decrease the amount of sugar in beverages, which are sold in supermarkets excessively. Also, they should check fast food companies to make sure whether they obey public health rules. Moreover, public health campaigns and educational steps can raise awareness about the importance of a balanced diet, particularly among vulnerable populations.
In conclusion, while individuals have a responsibility for maintaining a good eating environment, governments also have a major role to play in creating an atmosphere that facilitates eating habits. Despite the fact that individual approaches are more valuable, I firmly believe that a collaborative effort between individuals and governments is crucial to pursuing a healthy lifestyle as a whole.
