It is believed by some people that big companies need to compensate their CEOs substantially higher than other workers. While, this might sound realistic, it is important to acknowledge that employees’ income should be based on the merit shown in their performance reviews and there are more important stuff to take into account.
Indeed, the salary distribution system is typically based on someone’s position, yet giving a huge rise to CEOs that already have higher salary is an unnecessary policy. Clearly, there is no urgent necesity of implementing such regulation; paying attention to the company growth through improving equal and safe workspace is a more important behaviour. As far as I am concerned, worker with lower position tend to do more tough tasks and more incentives is a worth try in empowering the workers equally.
Furthermore, paying increments for the chief executive officers could create imbalance and migh not result in equal welfare in the work environment. Moreover, in some companies, more officers with lower position might be exploited by the senior. For example, people who work in the city center tend to experience toxic behaviour in a workplace, such as working excessively overtime, doing not-so important jobs (making tea, buying lunch and so on), and working on tasks which are not their duties. Needless to say, the innitiative of raising the salary is not the most solutive action, Rather, improving system and create a safe environment for all workers deserve an immediate attention.
All in all, Even though paying higher income to CEOs is common in most countries, there should not be any increments applied for them. Instead, putting effort in giving perks to all suitable candidate (based on their work performance) and maintaining secured environment are needed.
