It is believed that studying history is crucial and necessary, while it is also argued that this has no sense whatsoever. This essay shall analyze both perspectives. However, I believe that it is prudent and crucial to study history.
To start off, one must admit that history is an integral part of our lives thereby it is sound and beneficial to be cognizant of significant events that had happened before we were born, great people and their contributions to the world. First of all, this knowledge can undeniably assist us in grasping the world around us and ourselves. There is so much value in works of historics, who eagered to convey the very details of life before us; one must admit that to be indifferent to the labor of our ancestors is fairly foolish. Individuals with high levels of cognition are able to learn from past mistakes, thus the knowledge of history, which is saturated with a myriad of failures, will definitely be of assistance.
On the contrary, possessing an immense insight about the past does not necessarily mean that it will be of assistance in the present times. For that reason, the notion of uselessness of studying history may be accepted as truthful. In some schools, many children are obligated to study history, even though they are not keen on that. For that reason, spending time on classes dedicated to history is a waste of time, whereas they could allocate that time to the subjects they are genuinely passionate about. Therefore, taking history classes may be efficient only for those who find it fascinating, otherwise it is sort of useless.
In my opinion, history is necessary for us in order to understand where our identity stems from, for we can find lots of crucial information in the lives of our predecessors. Many historical events hold memories about the past that still have influence on our current life. The knowledge of those events changes our perspective and helps us to understand the reality better, why everything is the way it is.
To sum up, it can be said the both views are relatively reasonable to consider.
