Crime has existed since the beginning of human history. In today’s times, there are people who believe that the crime rate has reached the point where it can’t be reduced further. On the other hand, there are those which believe that there is still room for improvement. In this essay I will discuss both viewpoints and state my opinion.
On the one hand, I believe that there is always room for improvement. With the passage of time, the nature of crimes have changed, as a result, new actions should be taken to make sure that everyone feels safe. For example, with the advent of the internet, piracy of softwares, songs and movies have become quite common. Thus, in order to cater this new offense, new laws should be established in order to punish the accused party. Moreover, anti viruses should be installed in computers in order to stop any hacking attempts.
However, there are places in the world where the crime rate is very low due to years of struggle. For instance, many European countries have very little crime rate due to years of its government trying to educate the people. In addition to this, poverty has almost been eradicated in these countries. Hence, its citizens do not feel compelled to act on crime.
To conclude, I believe that newer actions should never be stopped against crimes as moving forward. However, there are places where the crime rate has almost dropped to 0 and as a result people feel that existing actions are enough for all the crimes.
