In recent times, it has become increasingly common for individuals to learn to live with fewer possessions and avoid buying unnecessary things, as opposed to owning more possessions. While this approach offers clear benefits associated with financial savings, I believe that owning more possessions is equally important because it can improve the quality of life.
Without a doubt, many people need to place considerable emphasis on learning how to live with fewer possessions and avoid buying unnecessary things. When people learn to make a life with minimum possessions and avoid buying unnecessary things, they can save a considerable amount of money by avoiding unnecessary purchases, spending their money on more important things like education, travelling, and long-term goals. As a result, they can avoid accumulating unnecessary debt, particularly when they tend to buy things using credit cards or loans, having extra savings to deal with unexpected expenses such as medical bills and emergency repairs, which enables them to invest in valuable opportunities, improving their financial stability in the long run. If people are infatuated with this approach, they may miss several opportunities in terms of buying useful products that could improve quality of life. A case in point is my country, Uzbekistan, where many people do not tend to make impulsive purchases.
However, in my view, owning more possessions is equally important because it improves the quality of life. As long as people own modern appliances, comfortable furniture, and electronic devices, they can reduce the time spent on household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and washing clothes, having more time for education, work, and leisure activities. Consequently, modern technologies can make everyday tasks less physically demanding, allowing people to avoid unnecessary effort and fatigue, which improves people’s overall well-being. If people are addicted to impulsive buying, it puts their finances in jeopardy, which causes financial difficulties in the long run. In a world where more and more people prefer to live with minimal possessions, owning more possessions can make a big difference when it comes to a better quality of life.
In conclusion, although learning to live with fewer possessions offers clear benefits in terms of saving, I believe that owning more possessions is equally important because it can improve quality of life.
