Whether reading stories in books, watching TV or playing computer games can bring benefits for children is a topical issue. It has been observed that reading stories in books is better than watching TV or playing computer games. Personally, I strongly agree with this opinion.
To start with, reading stories in books provides children with many opportunities through which the young one can acquire knowledge and valuable life lessons. For instance, when children read fantasy book such as Harry Porter, it gives children a chance to develop their imagination and mental well-being. These words inside this book will expose children to a simulated world, allowing children to observe social life and learn how to react with the other people. Not only does this help improve their cognitive abilities, it also enhances children’s prosocial behaviors.
Besides fantasy books, if children choose another genre, such as autobiography books, it can enhance their life experience. In more detail, reading books like Napoleon’s ‘The Mind of Napoleon’ helps children shape their character and learn how to navigate difficulties. Through such books, young readers may mature more quickly and gain valuable experience life from the consequences of Napoleon’s life. Another essential benefit is that books help children avoid and cope with negative aspects, such as the drawbacks of a lack of discipline and how to deal with unfavorable situations or people.
Some individuals argue that playing games or watching TV can benefit children would claim that kids could receive some entertainment values from these media. However, in reality, these activities often lead to addiction and distract children from their studies. Therefore, the benefits insignificant to potential issues.
In conclusion, reading book brings a lot of benefits for children. Depend on the type of book genres children read, they can learn and improve their imagination, cognitive ability, prosocial behaviors through fantasy book as well as enhance their life experience, form character through autobiography book.
