In recent years, there have been several innovations in the artifical intelegence and robatics sector, and while some believe that it will harm humainity, others argure that it will be beneficial. I personally agree with the notion that it will be net positive for society.
The fear towards robots steams from their ability to perform better than any human in history. They are faster, able to work for a long time with out sleep or breaks, and make less errors once they are trained. There is also a fear of them getting out of control once they reach a point where they are self-suficient. For instance, if an artificial intelegence reaches a state where it can learn and reason by itself, people think that it might decide to distroy humanity.
With that being said, robots are far from being conceious, and even if they are, there is no evidence showing that they will want to harm people. In the mean time, they are improving multiple aspects of our lives by working on problems that are beyond a persons ability. For example, they solve compelex math problems, work in factories that require prefection, and recently they are serving as personal assistants.
In conclusion, while I acknowledge the need to be coughtious about technology, I contend it is going to be the most beneficial invention in human history.
