In this day and age, many people argue that teachers should not be assigned more assignments for students, while some people believe that homework plays a key role in the education of children. Although both views offer merit, I agree with the latter perspective.
On the one hand, it is not deniable that while students do not have assignments, we will have much more time to entertain or engage in extracurricular activities. As a result, while participating in outside activities, it can help students enhance their life skills, soft skills and more experiences in life. On the other hand, if they do not have homeworks, many students tend to spend a lot of time playing games or web suffering and easily forget old lessons the teacher was taught in the class . From that, the knowledge they claim in the class but do not have assignments, they can forget easily and the knowledge they claim is not enough for exams such as: mid test or final test, and this can lead to their academic results tend to decrease. For instance, today we have many students who focus on the internet so much and are usually distracted by outside elements such as games, films,… and ignore their learning.
In contrast, some people believe that homework plays a crucial role in education and in my perspective, I agree with this opinion. This is because while teachers have more assignments for students, they will not spend much more time playing or entertaining. Besides that, the majority of time we will spend doing homeworks. However, there is no denying that homework can help students consolidate the knowledge learned in class and students can explore and discover facts and knowledge they did not know before. Nevertheless, many teachers assign a lot of homework for students. As a result, it can create more pressure on students and they do not have time to release stress after school hours. Consequently, the time they spend outside activities is so little and they can not develop their talent or improve their life skills or soft skills. In conclusion, it seems evident that homework brings both benefits and drawbacks with students. There are some reasons to believe that school children should not be given homework by their teachers, but in my own view is that homework is very essential in education.
