In a modern world, education is not only viewed with upmost value, but is seen as a ticket to a successful future. Many people believe that, in order to maximise success, children should be given homework to further their education. Others, however, contend that is is unnecessary. This essay will explore both views, ultimately siding with the view that homework is of little benefit to a child and that they shouldnt be tasked with it.

Certainly, students should aim to gain the most benefit from their educational instituions. Providing homework allows these children to extend their learning outside of school, highlighting the fact that education is important in all areas of life, not just the classroom. In fact, revising school disciplines such as Mathematics, English and science can allow these students to actively recall information they learned during classes and cement the knowledge, thus enhancing their school performance. If students spend a few hours studying at home, they save time recalling previous lessons and, instead, begin learning new topics immediately. Proponents of this idea, therefore, see homework as a valuable learning strategy to enhance educational levels.

despite these merits, assigning homework isnt without its indisputable drawbacks. In the early, formative years of a childs life, learning objectives should focus on practical skills such as social-cohesion, conflict-resolution, and correct behaviour. Children should learn about how to treat others and themselves, and the home environment should model this behavior to them. In fact, recent studies suggest that the early interactions of a child life are often reflected in their future societal behaviours, highlighting the importance of correct social engagement in a childs begginning years. The home environement should focus on demonstrating correct mannersims to children, and subsequently recognising and correcing innapropriate behaviour. By playing games and building reward systems that promote correct behaviour, parents can utilise the home hours to effectively discipline children. If they are made to simply study in these hours intead, the opportunity for this kind of parenting is minimised. It is clear, then, that focusing on engagement rather than homework ensures better character development for these children.

To conclude, while it is important for children to further their educational knowledge, they should also spend home hours focusing on their behaviour skills in order to become successful and productive members of society
