It is argued that mobile phones are causing poor communication skills for people’s social interaction. I completely disagree with this statement, and I will provide reasons for my disagreement in this essay.
Firstly, individuals can improve their relationships with their loved ones with handphones. If someone in their family members lives in another country, they can only be communicated with him or her with cellphones. Alternative options, such as sending letters may take a week to reach the destination, while smartphones can be reached in a second with the internet. Therefore, it is an undisputed fact that cell phones are not fully harmful to people’s social lives.
Secondly, for working purposes, cellphones can help us contacting our colleagues or managers better. For instance, if our managers want to inform us about an urgent meeting which will start in 30 minutes, they can phone or text us quickly in just 5 minutes. In addition, we can send emails through our mobile phones if our laptops are run out of batteries, which shows an incredible factor of these devices in our daily lives. For these reasons, I totally believe that cellphones play a crucial role in our working and personal lives.
Lastly, we can learn anything with our phones. When we want to know about a specific recipe, we can search for it on social platforms, such as Google or YouTube. Recent studies have shown that many international students cook themselves by looking at the cooking directions through the internet with their phones.
In conclusion, while some people think that cellphones can negatively impact them, I ultimately believe that our mobile phones are substantially useful to us because of how we can use it as a communication tool and how we cannot communicate easily with people without these electronic devices.
