As social media develop rapidly, many problems such as less social contact in real life emerge, which leads to the concern that social media have already made a negative affect on people. Nevertheless, I believe there are still many advantages for the promotion of social media while these changes brought by it are the certainty of development that people must adapt to.
To begin with, the popularization of social media provides a convenient platform for people to learn more things and socialize with others at a higher frequency. For instance, people can learn some news in different countries quite easily and quickly and can meet lots of people online to communicate with. As a result of globalization, the development of social media has made a huge difference to the society.
However, on the other hand, there is also a negative influence and fake or meaningless information that biases people’s judgement as well as less social contact in real life, especially for teenagers, are two main problems. Nevertheless, the first problem is not caused by the communicational platform itself, but some online fraudsters and the second problem arises mainly owing to precociousness of teenager because of over online socializing. For example, children can become best friends in several hours by playing together while an adult might have no intimates during the lifetime.
From my perspective, people ought to use social media in an appropriate and legal way and cultivate the ability to filter useless or even fake information. As for the trend of precociousness, I believe it is the certainty of development of globalization and technology which people must be accustomed to. In summary, some of the disadvantages of social media can be avoided through these methods and totally, these social media bring a positive influence on the society.
