Sport continues to be a controversional topic in the school, just as the sport itself has become a controversial industry in some respect. There are oponions related to this, which I will discuss now.
On the one hand, some people feel that sport takes time which on some cases can be used to academic activities, for instance exam preparation. After all, not all children are good at sport and tend to be better at academic. If they are forced to be good at sport as well, they might burden. Lastly, there are question marks over the sport, with drugging and corruption scandals increasingly common, as we see in cycling present. This is a bad phenomena that could affect children on their growth.
On the other hand, one major benefit of sport is that it helps children’s physical development at an important stage. If they spend their whole time studying, they would get bored and their mind would eventually suffer. Furthermore, sport can build children’s teamwork skill which is benefit for their adulthood. Finally, many people feel that competitive spirit is so important today, which is can be fostered by sport at an early age. It is notable that many successful bussiness people are good at sport.
Overall, I feel that sport should be compulsory at school curriculum, because the merits benefits outweighs the negatives. This is good as long as children are given the wide range options of sport and that the sport industry maintains the highest standards of conduct.
