Many individuals believe that every student should be allowed to pursue a subject according to preference, while others believe that student should focused only on subjects with promising careers prospects such as science and technology. Although said subjects tend to help students find a job to secure their future, I believe that interest in a particular subject helps an individual to thrive.
One of the many reasons is because, nowadays, companies in this field provide high salaries driven by innovations such as smartphones, electric vehicles, and robotics. For instance, Apple is one of the world’s leading technology companies, in which they are known for offering competitive salaries to software engineers and other technology professionals. Therefore this enables employees to have a secure future.
However, I argue that the interest of a student should be given preference. Students should be allowed to pursue their interests such as arts or music because individuals tend to remain motivated and perform better when studying subjects they genuinely enjoy. As a result, they are willing to work harder and achieve greater success.
For instance, if Isyana Sarasvati, a famous singer from Indonesia had not chosen music as her field of study, Indonesian would never experienced the amazing artistry of hers. For this reason, I believe students personal choices should be respected. In conclusion, while science and technology are taking over the world, and university students might have a bright and secure future, nevertheless students should be able to take subjects freely so that they can produce their best performance in the field.
