The majority of people believe that universities should only offer places to young students with the highest marks, while others think that people of all ages should be accepted, even if they did not do well at school. In my opinion, people of all ages should have the opportunity to attend university if they have enough motivation and are willing to work hard.
On the one hand, it can be beneficial for universities to accept young students with high marks because they may find it easier to learn new information. Moreover, good school grades can show that students have strong academic abilities and can work well with study materials. For example, students who achieve excellent results at school may have a better chance of getting high marks at university. Therefore, accepting students with strong academic records can help universities maintain high educational standards.
On the other hand, adults and middle-aged people can also achieve good results because they may be more responsible and have more life experience than younger students. Furthermore, it is beneficial for young people to communicate with older classmates, as they can learn from their experiences and develop their communication skills. For instance, students of different ages can work together on group projects and share their knowledge. As a result, accepting people of all ages can create a more diverse learning environment and provide students with valuable opportunities to develop their skills.
In conclusion, although high school marks can indicate academic ability, I believe that universities should accept motivated students of all ages. A person’s previous academic performance should not be the only factor considered when deciding whether they deserve a place at university.
