Some people opine that success is measured with wealth, whilst others think that general happiness in one’s life is defined as a successful life. In this essay I will elaborate these opinions in more detail as well as give my personal opinion about this topic.
First of all, it is undeniable that to be able to thrive in one’s life is ideal. The famous phrase “money can buy happiness” is well-known globally. Yes, it is true that wealth can generate the sense of success to some extent. For instance, with more money, people can easily get better education, healthier food sources, and excellent health benefits.
However, it is arguable that with lots of income that people could have, does it really have a profound impact on success? Younger generations nowadays are working harder than ever before. Unfortunately, some fall into illness or does not have a good mental stability due to working long hours. Consequently, many of them felt burned out or even depressed. Consequently, more people are seeking a good work-life balance to have a better mental health. With mental stability, people could potentially lead to happier lives, and eventually be healthier in general. Although the definition of success is extremely subjective, I believe that a well-balanced way of work could have immense power in people’s general happiness and also make them perform better career-wise. I would argue that success should mean that people could enjoy life and to be able to have quality time by themselves and or their loved ones whilst earning money to be able to afford their needs.
In conclusion, several people think that success should be measured by their income, while others believe that good well-being is more desirable. While it is true to some extent that being rich could potentially give people privileges, it is not the sole factor to measure someone’s achievements. I believe having a good mental stability and an amazing work-life balance is far superior in measuring someone’s accomplishments.
