Some individuals claim that the rise of technology has made education more fruitful, whereas the other group of people contends that it has made students’ learning process low-quality. The former group of people thinks so because special applications have made it easier for students to multitask. Meanwhile, short-form content on social media is what caused the other group of people to draw a different conclusion. Personally, I would side with the former point since technology can provide people with countless advantages if it is controlled properly.
On the one hand, some people think that the progressive use of technology has made learning more effective because new applications facilitated students’ ability to acquire more information at once. Unlike traditional textbooks with a limited amount of information, the digital world is highly flexible and dynamic, meaning applications could be updated from time to time, and new features could be added to allow users to see and learn more things. Introduced in 2024, eMaktab helped thousands and millions of Uzbek students athirst for education to study efficiently with new tools like translator as well as useful information like checking school grades, which could not have been realised with books.
On the other hand, other individuals often complain that technology is making education worse and worse for students. This is because not only can technology be efficient, but it could also be distracting. Modern social media apps show a plethora of short-form content, overwhelming young individuals’ brains with a lot of choices and causing them to “doomscroll” for a prolonged amount of time, which prevents students from focusing on their studies. This could be witnessed on social media applications like YouTube, which introduced YouTube Shorts in 2021. Since then, instead of focusing on learning maths or improving their English fluency, young individuals are squandering their time actively pursuing entertainment.
Personally, I would side with the opinion of the first group since technology can be highly advantageous if it is managed well. Even with the help of funny short skits or games, students can still expand their knowledge by watching or playing them in the language or on the topics they’re learning. Technology can help people study in many unprecedented ways, but managing it properly and knowing when to stop matter. In conclusion, some people assume that technology significantly helps people study effectively, while others believe that technology is ruining education for young individuals. I would personally opt for the first point as technology has many useful facets if it is used responsibly.
