The question of who takes responsibility to regulate children’s diet has long been a topic of debate, with some believing that school plays a crucial role in encouraging students to have a healthy diet, while others claim that parents should take responsibility to control children’s diet. Personally, I do believe that there should be equal responsibility between school and parents.
Proponents of school-based regulations often highlight that school plays a pivotal role in shaping children’s healthy habits and lifestyle. Given that children allocate most of their time to study at school by spending sugary drinks and fast foods at school kitchens, school authorities can regulate children’s diet, thereby improving healthy lifestyle among children. Another effective approach through education would be introducing nutritional science into school curriculum. When these subjects related to healthy lifestyle diet are educated during lessons, they gain valuable information about the importance of healthy balanced diet and disadvantage of unhealthy habits, which could minimize obesity-related health problems. From this regard, schools have a major role to control children’s eating habits.
On the other hand, parents have also an equal to supervise children’s dietary habits, especially outside of school hours. Since, children often form their eating habits while observing their parents’ diet. If parents consistently provide healthy meals and limit processed food at home, children are more likely to develop positive eating behaviors. Additionally, parental engagement in meal planning and cooking can teach children valuable skills and importance of healthy foods, resulting in enhancing healthy lifestyles among children.
In conclusion, while school influence children’s diet by regulation and education, parents play a fundamental role in developing healthy lifestyle and behavior. Therefore, a collaborative effort between parents and children is essential to ensure a healthy generation.
