Road safety is important in today’s developing world. This following essay takes a look at both sides of argument while one set of people raising voices to increase the minimum legal age for driving, on the other hand some people argue to take more effective measures in improving the transport safety.
It is believed that the foremost way to increase road safety is by ensuring the legal age for driving. As per the government rules, the minimum legal age for driving a motor vehicle is 18 years with a proper driving license. Even there are rules and regulations it should be monitored and done in a proper way to ensure safety of well-being. As an illustration, I have encountered a lot of young teenagers below the age of 18 would engage in risky behaviours such as speeding, driving with mobile phones, rash driving, and driving under the infulence of alcohol which results in accidents. Raising the minimum legal age would ensure that drivers are more mature and equipped to handle the responsibilites of driving and reduce road-related incidents.
Many believe that focusing solely on minimum age is too simplistic and has other critical factors. Effective driving programs, strict driving tests and continuous monitoring drivers through probation periods could contribute more meaningfully to road safety. Additionally, implementing advanced technology, improving road infrastructure, enforcing traffic rules could have a long lasting impact.
Overall, increasing the legal age may reduce some risks, it is not the most effective solution. A balanced strategy with driver education, law enforcement and technological advancements will provide a sustainable and impactful improvement in safety.
