Band 6+: Some people believe that the best way to provide a happier society is to ensure that there are only small differences between the richest and poorest members. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some individuals contend that the most effective way to create a greater society is to make sure that the differences between the most wealthy and the poorest people is limited significantly. Personally, I disagree with this point of view and will illustrate several compelling reasons why in the following essay.

On the one hand, it is undeniable that ensuring that there are only small differences between the richest and poorest members helps society become happier. The reason for this is because the poor can not feel shy and ashamed when working and living, leading to a better connection to each other. For example, students have to wear uniforms at school because it is a good way to limit the distance between the rich and poor students. All of them wear one kind of clothes that makes them feel more comfortable and easy to make new friends as they do not know about the family foundation of another. As a result, the poor can feel more confident, leading to a happier society and making closer distance between person and person. However, not all rich and poor people can ignore these differences between society positions as they are always self-aware of their living condition.

On the other hand, I suppose that creating an environment for rich and poor people to communicate and build strong relationships is the best way to produce a happier society. This is because people can talk to others more and understand about others’ life and work, leading to being more sympathetic and connected between person and person. For example, in some neighborhoods, people always held some sport activities or music events on the weekend for cooperation between people. It is a great way for the poor and rich to ignore all distances and become more sociable. Consequently, the relationships can be more strong and sustainable, allowing the society to grow more positive and happier.

In conclusion, while limiting the distance between the richest and poorest people can offer various benefits for society, providing an environment where people can cooperate and connect to others easily will benefit all people in the long run.
