Band 6+: Some people believe that the development of artificial intelligence (AI) will have a negative impact on employment, as machines and computer systems will replace human workers in many industries.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is claimed that rapid technological advancement in computer systems and artificial intelligence can have a negative impact on employment. I largely disagree with this statement since AI driven systems may lead to even more job creation and these state-of-the-art technologies still need human guidance to operate flawlessly.

The first consideration is that any new innovation has brought more employment opportunities so far. It is obvious from the previous innovations, such as the introduction of steam, gasoline engines, electric vehicles, that they generated new professions including steam engine operators, mechanics, EV designers. This works the same with AI systems that can lead to new positions like AI agents, AI data analysts, and AI software engineers. A clear illustration of this is AI influencers that were not exist in just 10 years ago but at present they gain millions of followers through posting various informative videos on different fields. Hence, AI platforms are more likely to provide diverse employment opportunities.

Another feasible point is AI needs consistent human guidance to perform appropriately. In some cases, tasks carried out with AI applications may have mistakes that may pose a threat for humans unless these flaws are corrected by human workers. One notable example is fully automatic cars which operate with AI driven systems that may mistake a soft cellophane bag with a hard rock on the roads and they halt the vehicles on busy highways. In order to solve these kinds of technical errors, more highly trained AI engineers will be needed. It is ,therefore, to reason that new innovation can not replace humans workplaces.

Admittedly, it has been proven that some repetitive, routine, and administrative jobs are being carried out successfully with AI systems; however, it does not mean they will ultimately take over conventional employment. To boost productivity, avoid serious threats, and accelerate economy human workers will still coexist with AI applications.

Having considered all perspectives, I firmly believe that AI can bring about more employment opportunities and enhance productivity and stay as human assistant. Despite a few spheres are able to enjoy from full automation and reducing employee numbers, AI does provide more diverse job places.
