Some individuals discuss the reasons which influence the life of a person in the future. While some argue that childhood experiences will have the largest effect, others challenge this idea on the ground that a notable effect on a person’s future comes from teenager experiences. Although both views have their own justification, I lean towards the latter, and the reasons will be presented as follows.
As the reason comes from early childhood, it can be seen as the ideal period to shape a person’s personality and brain development. To be more specific, children generally can be shaped to be a good or bad person, their hobbies, or even jobs from observing and learning from parents. For example, children who live in the family having a musician, they normally follow this career or have natural talent in this field. Besides, their languages or behaviors can be built by following and observing everything around them, especially when they practice how to speak.
On the other hand, people believe teenager experiences play a greater role in determining future outcomes. Regarding their language and behaviors, children move to school and interact with new knowledge not only in books but also from friends and teachers, therefore they have more identification to manage their language and behaviors.
Moreover, this is also the time for academic and career decisions. Children have trouble making choices that are more suitable for their life, which shapes long-term opportunities and creates nearly the life they will be in the future. Specifically, particularly subjects or extracurricular activities or vocational paths, children have more specialized skills and knowledge about socialization and society’s needs at the moment. From that, children change or make a new decision about their future career even they decided when they were a toddler.
In conclusion, although childhood experiences shape their personality or provide their developmental groundwork, I maintain that the stage of adolescence carries more weight in determining a person’s future.
