People hold diverse perspectives about whether applying advanced technologies to the education system has benefits or drawbacks. In my opinion, I believe that the benefits of using technology in education far outweigh its disadvantages.
On the one hand, it is argued everyday use of modern equipment such as tablets, notebooks and smartphones can lead to the loss of basic but essential skills like handwriting, or mental math. For instance, students may find it very difficult to solve math problems without a calculator, or their handwriting may get worse. Eventually, by using technology in education, children will become robotic and will not use any of the usual writing or solving methods. Proponents of this view also claim that prolonged usage of gadgets can cause eye strain, headaches, and reduced physical activity, which are concerning for younglings.
On the other hand, I believe that the implementation of technology in education will boost the overall learning process and efficiency. Students will gain access to a wide range of resources such as online libraries, educational videos, and e-books anytime. In addition, platforms like Khan Academy and Coursera are providing free or affordable courses globally. Teachers can give particular tasks from these platforms, making learning more engaging and fun. Another point worth mentioning is that education systems can use Al tools to personalize learning levels and pace for each student. Students with high levels in particular subjects can learn it in an increased pace and it will be more efficient. In contrast, students with knowledge weaker than average can learn it in a decreased pace, eventually achieving average skills.
In conclusion, although it is claimed by some that the implementation of technology in education negatively impacts education, my perspective aligns with those who believe that technology will strengthen the education system globally.
