The proposition that the overarching goal of education is the preparation for future labour activity. This essay will delve into the potential drawbacks and salient benefits, previously articulating my own perspective which leans towards a collaborative approach.
On the one hand, one of the primary advantages is an unparalleled opportunity to pursue lucrative career trajectories. Consequently, individuals are able to have a six-figure income in the future. It enables an increase ain life expectancy, because the share of low-income people will shrink, paving the way for prosperity. Another crucial aspect is a highly-skilled workforce. Practice-oriented education offers a multifaceted benefit to deepen knowledge by practice at ample companies. Experience is necessary for a high-powered job. The overwhelming majority of students intends to climb up the career ladder instead of becoming academicians. Given the circumstances, it is a waste of time. It would be great if they could work as quickly as possible. As claimed by statistics, lots of people find postgraduate study useful by virtue of career.
Conversely, critics often voice concerns regarding the quality of education. If everyone studies with the aim of employment, education can experience a dramatic decline in quality. Education has a plethora of functions apart from employment. As a case in point, it can likewise rear people, broaden worldview, and develop science. These utility functions have a profound effect on society. However, the main aim of education is acquiring knowledge. It allows us to develop disruptive technologies which improve our life and our foreseeable future. Another crucial aspect is personal development. It is a beneficial step to grow nerve cells. Furthermore, the brain will develop.
I absolutely disagree with this proposition. I reckon, that the major goal of education is acquiring new knowledge. The students don’t have to focus solely on the future job. Otherwise, the quality of education will be worse, compared to traditional education.
In conclusion, the drawbacks of this proposition prevail over the benefits on the grounds that education has more functions. We should reevaluate our attitude to study at university to broaden our worldview.
