There are people who believe that preparing individuals for enrollment in the workforce is the primary objective of education, while others argue that education should focus on personal development and well-being. This essay discusses both perspectives and my opinion on this issue.
On the one hand, individuals who believe that preparing a person for enrollment in the workforce is the primary objective of education argue that, in this competitive world, every skill useful for getting a job should be taught as soon as possible. Therefore, education is essential to prepare young generations before they face the real world. For example, knowledge of using MS Office can be taught in school as an introduction to what a real job is. There are many other skills like English, accountancy, and google tools that also can be taught in the school. As a result, the students that had finished their education would be prapred with many abilities.
On the other hand, proponents of personal development and well-being argue that everyone should develop good characteristics because they will be useful even outside the workforce. Eventually, an honest attitude, a strong work ethic, and other personal development will be more useful if taught in school. An education to build up personal confidence, curiosity, desire to obtain some achievement will give the person many good and bad perspective about how they can undergo their life.
In conclusion, while there are many valid arguments supporting both perspectives, I believe that personal development is the most essential lesson that should be taught in school. It can help individuals to face not only the workforce but also this competitive world.
