In today’s fast-paced and competitive world, students are under immense pressure to excel academically and secure better opportunities for future. Students of today’s generation have engaged themselves totally on academic where as they had just left the basic ethics that are also important for them to build their career. Students of this 21st generation do not know how to be responsible member of the society. In this essay i will discuss the both views that the education should prepare individual a useful member of society or just to achieve personal ambitions respectively.
As this world is becoming a competitive place for individuals, the education given to students is totally academic so that they should be focused on achieving personal ambitions. In a way it is also the positive side because every struggle needs hard work and the hustle and bustle of today’s generation had created fear in individuals that if they will not achieve education they will not compete today’s fast growing world. So each individual had devoted themselves to focus firmly on academic education rather than any other activity and same what is followed in every educational institute.
However, this whole scenario had another drawback also. As the students are engaged in making place of themselves in this world they had forgotten how to be a responsible citizen. They are just grown with academic education but they have no education to be a good member of society. They have no basic ethics left. Some days ago i just went for grocery with my mother and there i saw that store was full of rush when we went to counter for bill i saw a old man standing in front and at his backside the young individual was sitting on a chair. It was his responsibility that he should stand up and offer that chair to that old man. But as i discussed individuals have no education to be responsible member of society which is the basic necessity of this today’s generation.
In my opinion, individuals should learn how to be a responsible member of society. I am not disagreeing that the academic education should not be given but some basic knowledge about their responsibilities should be given to individuals.
